The Backrooms are not empty. Strange creatures inhabit the spaces between the corridors, and their behavior can make every expedition unpredictable. Some entities may simply watch from a distance, while others can follow you through the maze. Keeping track of your surroundings is essential, especially when visibility is limited and familiar-looking corridors begin to blur together.

Survival also depends on managing your health, hunger, and torch batteries. Food and supplies become valuable as you spend more time exploring, while limited battery power can make darkness especially dangerous. Light can help you see where you are going and make your shelter more secure, but using your resources wisely is necessary if you want to continue exploring.

Choose Your Controls

On desktop, you can move with WASD, jump with Space, run with Shift, and crouch with C. The E key opens your inventory, while J opens the journal and Esc provides access to the settings. Mining is handled by holding the left mouse button, while the right mouse button lets you place blocks, use objects, or drink. Inventory management also includes a convenient option for taking half of a stack with the right mouse button.

Mobile players can use the on-screen controls to move through the maze, push the movement stick outward to run, and use dedicated buttons for jumping and crouching. Holding on a block allows you to mine it, while tapping lets you place, use, or attack. The BAG button opens your inventory and the MENU button provides access to settings, making the experience accessible across different devices.

Only structures and progress built inside the starting zone are kept, so deciding where to establish your safe space is particularly important.
